Compare Business Insurance Providers in South Africa
A business policy is a set of sections. Cover for the premises, stock, liability or interruption is only there when that section is on the schedule.
Premiums, excesses, contributions and cover depend on your circumstances and the policy or scheme rules. Confirm the final terms before you buy. Information checked 29 October 2026.
Compare providers
The provider name links to the WiT Money profile where one exists. The gold button opens the recorded website. It is not a quote and not an application.

Estimate with your own figures
Type the amounts you want to test. The result uses those amounts only. It does not fetch a quote, and it does not decide a claim.
How to read this comparison
Assets, public liability, professional indemnity, employers' liability, business interruption, stock, theft, fire, cyber and goods in transit are separate sections. A generic business policy does not include all of them.
The business activity on the proposal matters. A change of work, a vacant premises, or a missing security condition can affect a claim. Premiums on these rows are personalised unless a rand figure is already printed.
A business has different risks from a household. Stock, tools, public liability, cyber incidents, commercial vehicles and the death of a key person do not fall under a personal contents policy. Many home policies exclude business use outright.
Buy the covers that match how the business actually operates. A consultant working from a laptop does not need the same schedule as a workshop. WiT Money does not broker business policies and does not publish premiums.
How the cover works
Assets and interruption
Property and stock cover the things. Business interruption cover replaces gross profit for a period after an insured event. One without the other can leave you with a rebuilt premises and no income.
Liability
Public liability responds when someone is injured or their property is damaged and you are legally liable. Professional indemnity is for advice. They are different policies.
People
Key-person cover and buy-and-sell agreements are life policies with a business purpose. They need a contract between the owners, not only an insurance schedule.
What to check
The risk
Premises, advice, vehicles, stock or people.
Sum insured
Replacement of stock at cost, and gross profit on a basis your accountant recognises.
Exclusions
Gradual deterioration, defective workmanship, cyber, and contractual liability you assumed.
The insurer
Authorisation, once checked.
Risks
- A personal policy used for a side business.
- No public liability on a premises the public enters.
- A buy-and-sell policy with no underlying agreement.
Claims and complaints
Report a claim to the insurer, scheme or administrator named on your documents, in the way the policy or scheme rules describe. WiT Money does not decide the claim. If you have complained to that organisation and you are still not satisfied, the National Financial Ombud Scheme handles certain financial complaints, and the Council for Medical Schemes handles medical scheme complaints. Take the policy schedule, the rejection letter and the claim documents with you.
How WiT Money compares these products
Products stay in provider name order. A car excess, a funeral benefit, a medical scheme contribution and a pet plan are not sorted against one another. Nothing is ranked as the cheapest. A listed name is not a recommendation, and WiT Money does not sell the policy. Where this site has the provider's logo, it is shown. Otherwise the name is shown without a mark. An FSP number or a scheme registration number is not printed unless the recorded page already states it, and it is not a register check by WiT Money.
Questions readers ask
Does my home contents policy cover my business laptop?
Often only if the policy allows business use, and often not for stock or liability. Read the exclusions. When in doubt, ask the insurer in writing.
What is business interruption?
Cover for the income you lose after an insured event damages the business. It is not cover for a quiet month, and it is not cover for a pandemic unless the wording says so.
Do you arrange cover?
No. Speak to an authorised financial services provider if you want advice or a policy.
