What we do

You can read how a product works, compare the details we have checked, and try a calculator with your own figures. If a rate or fee has not been checked, it is left off the page. You cannot apply for a product or open an account here.

Our mission

The aim is to show the cost, the risk and who provides the product, so an advertisement is not the only information you see. These pages explain products. They do not tell you which one to choose.

How we research

We use provider documents and official sources, including SARS, the South African Reserve Bank, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority, the National Credit Regulator and the Council for Medical Schemes. A published figure includes the date it was checked. If it has not been checked, it is not shown. The methodology page explains how comparison tables are ordered.

Editorial principles

Pages are written in plain South African English. They follow official rules and the provider's own documents. If a page does not cover the whole market, it says so. Facts are kept separate from commercial messages. We do not invent ratings, review scores or staff biographies.

Commercial transparency

Reading the site and using the calculators is free. No provider is paying for a placement at the moment. If that changes, it will be explained and labelled. Links to a provider, where they appear, go to that provider's own website. They are not an application.

Regulatory position

WiT Money gives general information. It does not give personal financial advice, arrange credit or insurance, or take applications. It is not a bank, a lender, an insurer, a medical scheme or a broker. Before you deal with a provider, check that firm's registration with the authority that covers that product.

Contact
